CONGRESSMAN JOE MORELLE JOINS THOUSANDS TO RENEW FIGHT FOR WOMEN’S RIGHTS
(Washington, DC) – Today, Congressman Joe Morelle joined thousands of New Yorkers at the third annual Women’s March in Seneca Falls to renew the fight for women’s rights and equality for all Americans.
“New York State boasts a long and proud history of women who have blazed trails in the fight for equal rights -- a legacy we continue to advance thanks to empowered women across the country who are stepping forward to help lead our nation,” said Rep. Morelle. “Now more than ever, as we are confronting forces that threaten to roll back some of the most basic and essential rights of women, we must renew our commitment to protecting access to reproductive health services, securing equal pay, ensuring workplace rights, and strengthening protections for victims of domestic abuse and sexual harassment.”
The Seneca Falls Women’s March began in 2017 as a grassroots demonstration of women and men dedicated to the fight for women’s equality and takes place in partnership with towns and cities all across the country. The Seneca Falls Women’s March drew over 15,000 attendees last year and takes place in the same town where the first women’s rights convention was held in 1848.
“We have made momentous strides in the fight for equality, yet we still have a long way to go,” continued Rep. Morelle. “Together, we will not rest until we have achieved the fairness and equality that every woman and every person who calls this great nation home deserves.”
