CONGRESSMAN JOE MORELLE RESPONDS TO PRESIDENT TRUMP’S 2021 BUDGET REQUEST
(Washington, DC) – Congressman Joe Morelle released the following statement in response to President’s Fiscal Year 2021 Budget Request.
“A budget is a statement of priorities – and it’s clear from his proposed budget that this President simply does not understand or prioritize the needs of everyday families.
“The President proposes significant cuts to Medicaid, food stamps, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program—all of which would jeopardize the livelihood and stability of millions of our most vulnerable citizens. And at a time when the severe effects of climate change threaten the very future of generations to come, the President proposes to cut the Environmental Protection Agency by a reckless 26%.
“My priorities have always been, and will continue to be, ensuring the values of my community are represented and the voices of working families are heard. That means supporting programs that uplift those in need, not cutting them; taking action to protect our environment and strengthen sustainability efforts; and making healthcare more affordable and accessible, not less.
“Despite this disappointing proposal, my colleagues and I remain steadfast in our commitment to providing the leadership our country deserves and ensuring a budget that truly meets the needs of the American people.”
