CONGRESSMAN JOE MORELLE ANNOUNCES 2021 MILITARY ACADEMY NOMINATIONS FROM THE 25TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

(Rochester, N.Y.) – Today Congressman Joe Morelle announced the names of 21 students who have been nominated for entry into our nation's prestigious military academies.

"Our community is home to so many incredible and talented young people and it is a true honor and privilege to nominate these distinguished individuals for admission into our military service academies," said Congressman Joe Morelle. "I extend my sincere congratulations to each nominee and I know that, through your hard work and determination, you will achieve your goals and make our nation proud."

Applicants are evaluated on a number of criteria, including academic performance, physical fitness and athletics, extracurricular activities, and leadership potential. Students who applied for Congressional nomination were interviewed and evaluated by a panel of graduates from each of the academies.

This year's nominees include:

US Air Force Academy

• Mr. Jacob Knapp—Fairport High School (Class of 2020, presently attending USAFA Preparatory School).
• Mr. Bryan Simpson—Rush-Henrietta High School (Class of 2017, presently attending USAFA Preparatory School).
• Mr. Andrew Zimmerman—Pittsford Sutherland High School.

US Naval Academy

• Ms. Anna Fetter—Our Lady of Mercy School.
• Ms. Heami Jones—Pittsford Mendon High School.
• Mr. Justin Carl—McQuaid Jesuit High School.
• Mr. Lucas Mark—Brighton High School.
• Mr. Jaden Reuter—McQuaid Jesuit High School.
• Mr. Connor Smith—Greece Athena High School.
• Ms. TaShayla Spencer- World of Inquiry High School (class of 2018; presently serving in the Navy as a Petty Officer 3^rd Class).
• Mr. John Sullivan—Pittsford Sutherland HS.
• Mr. Alexander Tidd—Pittsford Mendon HS.

US Military Academy

• Mr. Jonas Campagna—Pittsford Mendon High School.
• Mr. Daniel Card—Webster Thomas High School.
• Mr. Paige Elias—East Rochester High School.
• Ms. Marissa Giannavola—Chesterton Academy of Rochester.
• Mr. Caleb Kaiser—Fairport High School.
• Ms. Alivia Marciniak—Pittsford Mendon High School.

US Merchant Marine Academy

• Ms. Natalie Colpoys—Our Lady of Mercy.
• Mr. Thomas Nowak— Iona Preparatory Upper School**.
• Mr. Ethan Zweigbaum—Clarkstown High School South**.

**Note: Mr. Nowak and Mr. Zweigbaum reside outside of NY-25. Per the United States Merchant Marine Academy requirements, applicants only need to reside in the same state as their nominator, not congressional district.
