Invites high school students to submit their artwork for a chance at national recognition

(Rochester, NY)—Today, Congressman Joe Morelle announced the opening of the 2023 Congressional Art Competition to high school students in the 25th Congressional District. The winner will have their artwork displayed at the United States Capitol for one year.

“This event is a wonderful occasion for our community to celebrate the wealth of creative talent right here in Rochester, and I highly encourage students to participate in this unique opportunity,” said Congressman Joe Morelle. “I am always impressed by the caliber of our local talent and look forward to seeing all they have to offer for this year’s competition.”

The annual Congressional Art Competition started in 1982 as an opportunity for young artists to be recognized for their abilities on the national stage. For additional information, visit https://morelle.house.gov/services/art-competition where you will find rules and guidelines, as well as copies of the required submission form.

If you have artistic students in your community, please encourage them to apply. Students should submit their original works to Congressman Morelle’s Rochester District Office or the Memorial Art Gallery’s Creative Workshop by 4:00pm on Friday, April 28, 2023.
