(Washington, DC) – Today, Congressman Joe Morelle was appointed to serve on two subcommittees of the House Committee on Education and Labor. Morelle has been chosen to serve the Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education, as well as the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions – both of which allow him to continue his work advocating and delving results for Monroe County's hard-working families.
"It is our responsibility to equip children and families with the tools and resources they need to achieve lifelong success—and that means access to early education, quality healthcare, and job opportunities that pay a fair wage," said Rep. Morelle. "I am excited that my service on these subcommittees will enable me to be part of the critical work that is taking place to support and strengthen families in our community and across the nation."
The subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education focuses on education from early learning through the high school level and also includes special education, career and technical education, educational research and improvement and more.
The subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions primarily examines health and retirement security as well as labor-management relations.
In addition, Rep. Morelle serves on the House Rules Committee and the House Budget Committee.
