CONGRESSMAN JOE MORELLE APPOINTED TO BUDGET COMMITTEE

(Washington, DC) – Today, Congressman Joe Morelle was appointed by Speaker Nancy Pelosi to serve on the House Budget Committee for the 116th Congress.

"I am grateful to Speaker Pelosi and Chairman Yarmuth for this opportunity to play an important role in ensuring Congressional budget priorities reflect the needs of hardworking families in my district and across the country," said Rep. Morelle. "That means ensuring we are investing in healthcare for every American, growing our economy, and protecting essential services like Medicare and Social Security."

"As a former small business owner, state legislator, and a champion for expanded health care, I know he'll play a vital role in the committee's work as we work to chart a responsible fiscal pathway for the nation."

The House Budget Committee is responsible for writing Congress' overall budget plan for the fiscal year. The Committee also has jurisdiction over budget process laws and tracks the budgetary effects of legislative action. Learn more: https://budget.house.gov/
