CONGRESSMAN JOE MORELLE CO-SPONSORS LEGISLATION TO STRENGTHEN UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE, STOP TRUMP ADMINISTRATION FROM SABOTAGING DELIVERY

Prepares to travel back to Washington later this week to vote on critical legislation to protect our democracy
(Washington, DC) Today, Congressman Joe Morelle announced his co-sponsorship of legislation to reverse the troubling new changes recently implemented by the new Postmaster General, at the direction of President Trump, that have adversely affected service. The Delivering for America Act will address the significant delays being reported across the country, and prohibit the United States Postal Service (USPS) from implementing any changes to the operations or level of service it had in place on January 1, 2020, until the COVID-19 pandemic has ended
"The USPS quietly helps keep our nation running efficiently and effectively. This year, we're facing a global pandemic, a Census, and an election—it's unconscionable that the Trump Administration is working to undermine the dependability of the Postal Service when Americans need it most," said Rep Morelle. "People need life-saving medications delivered, communities are counting on funding from the Census, and Americans need to safely cast their ballots. The USPS is a critical part of American infrastructure, and I'm proud to co-sponsor this legislation to ensure their vital services can continue unimpeded."
Congressman Morelle will be traveling back to Washington later this week to work with his colleagues in the House to pass the Delivering for America Act.
