CONGRESSMAN JOE MORELLE EXPOSES LOCAL IMPACT OF TRUMP’S HEALTHCARE CUTS

(Rochester, N.Y.)—Today, Congressman Joe Morelle was joined by Trillium Health to expose Donald Trump’s betrayal of the American people and highlight the devastating impacts of Trump’s reconciliation package on healthcare access in our community.

On July 4, 2025, Donald Trump signed a reconciliation package into law which contains devastating cuts to many of the programs and services families rely on every day, despite his near constant rhetoric claiming the opposite. This legislation was rammed through Congress by Congressional Republicans, who have totally bent the knee to Trump’s whims.

The bill:

• Enacts the largest Medicaid cut in our nation’s history, slashing $900 billion from the program over the next ten years;

• Strips an estimated 15 million Americans of their health coverage, according to the Congressional Budget Office, and raises premiums for millions more;

• Kicks nearly three million Americans off nutrition programs like SNAP;

• Defunds Planned Parenthood, eliminating access to critical reproductive health resources and other diagnostic tools;

• Adds over $3 trillion to the federal deficit, primarily from over $5 trillion in tax cuts for the richest Americans.

• Contains other devastating and un-American provisions to make working families’ lives more difficult.
