CONGRESSMAN JOE MORELLE LAUNCHES NEW TASK FORCE TO CRACK DOWN ON CORRUPTION

April 15, 2026

(Washington, D.C.)—Today, Congressman Joe Morelle, Ranking Member of the Committee on House Administration, announced the launch of a new Anti-Corruption and Democracy Reform Task Force, bringing together Members of Congress and national advocacy leaders to take on corruption in Washington and restore trust in government.

“Families here in Rochester are working hard, doing everything right and still paying more for gas, groceries, and housing while corruption in Washington drives costs even higher,” said Congressman Joe Morelle. “At a moment when people expect their government to put them first, Donald Trump is profiting off the Presidency and pushing policies that benefit his wealthy allies, all while costing taxpayers billions. This Task Force is about putting an end to that corruption, restoring accountability, and making sure government works for the people it serves, not just the rich and powerful.”

The Task Force, led by Morelle alongside Representatives Kevin Mullin (CA-15)Delia Ramirez (IL-03), and Nikema Williams (GA-05), will examine corruption across all levels of government and advance reforms to strengthen transparency, accountability, and public trust. Specifically, the group will focus on rooting out corruption in the Executive Branch, strengthening ethics and accountability in Congress and the courts, and reducing the influence of dark money in elections while expanding access to the ballot.

During a press conference announcing the new Task Force, Morelle emphasized that corruption in Washington has real consequences, raising everyday costs and eroding confidence that government is working on behalf of families. The new Task Force is part of a broader Democratic effort to confront what Morelle called a “culture of corruption” and deliver a government that prioritizes stability, affordability, and opportunity.

Morelle will continue working with colleagues and partners to develop a comprehensive anti-corruption agenda and advance policies that strengthen democracy and lower costs for working families.
