CONGRESSMAN MORELLE ANNOUNCES NEARLY $25 MILLION FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS TO DISTRIBUTE COVID-19 VACCINE

March 25, 2021

Funding allocated as part of American Rescue Plan will help expand COVID-19 vaccinations, testing, and treatment for underserved communities in Monroe County

March 25, 2021 (Rochester, NY) – Today, Congressman Joe Morelle announced nearly $25 million in funding for local community health centers to help ensure COVID-19 vaccinations reach every community. The funding, allocated by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of the American Rescue Plan, will support Anthony L. Jordan Health Corporation, Mosaic Health, Oak Orchard, and Rochester Regional Health.

"From day one, we have been committed to equitable and accessible distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, particularly to underserved communities that have been hit hardest by this crisis," said Congressman Joe Morelle. "I'm proud to have helped pass the American Rescue Plan to deliver on that promise for Monroe County families. This funding will be invaluable to our local efforts to ramp up vaccination and ensure everyone who's eligible has access, no matter where they live."

The American Rescue Plan, passed by Congress and recently signed into law by President Biden, includes more than $6 billion for local health centers across America to strengthen access to care for underserved and high-risk communities. The funding will be used to: expand COVID-19 vaccinations, testing, and treatment for vulnerable populations; deliver preventive and primary health care services to people at higher risk for COVID-19; and expand health centers' operational capacity during the pandemic and beyond, including modifying and improving physical infrastructure and adding mobile units.

Organizations in Monroe County receiving funds include:

Anthony L. Jordan Health Corporation

$4,363,250

Mosaic Health

$15,797,625

Rochester Regional Health

$500,000

Oak Orchard

$3,737,875

The funding will be made available starting April 1.
