STATEMENT FROM CONGRESSMAN MORELLE ON WOMEN’S HEALTH PROTECTIONS

(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Joe Morelle released the following statement:

"Every woman deserves the fundamental, inalienable right to choose what happens to her body. Unfortunately, those rights have repeatedly come under attack by states seeking to restrict access to women's healthcare—and today, they are being threatened once again in the Supreme Court.

"While I am hopeful the Supreme Court will act to uphold the protections established under Roe v. Wade, this challenge underscores why additional action is so necessary. That's why in September, I voted to pass the Women's Health Protection Act and ensure every woman has the right to make her own healthcare decisions, no matter what. I urge the Senate to join us in enacting this important legislation immediately.

"I am proud and honored to represent a community with a rich history of fighting for women's equality. I'll always fight to uphold that legacy by protecting and strengthening the essential rights all women should be able to rely on, including reproductive freedom."
