CONGRESSMAN MORELLE JOINS REPRESENTATIVES KATKO AND BRINDISI IN CALLING ON THE INTERNATIONAL JOIN COMMISSION TO BRING RELIEF TO RESIDENTS ALONG LAKE ONTARIO'S SOUTHERN SHORE
(Rochester, NY) - Congressman Joe Morelle joined Congressman Anthony Brindisi and Congressman John Katko in calling on the International Join Commission to maintain outflows above the recommendations of Plan 2014 until at least April 15, 2020.
This action comes in addition to Congressman Morelle's call for the United States Army Corp of Engineers to commission a Great Lakes Resiliency Study to develop long-term solutions that will prevent this devestating flooding and protect residents.
Last year, Congressman Morelle also joined the American Flood Coalition, an organization dedicared to finding creative solutions to protect communities across our country from flooding incidents.
“My district knows all too well the devastation that flood waters can cause, as many of our neighbors are still rebuilding from the severe flooding we experienced in 2017 and this year are bracing for the impact of further flood waters,” said Congressman Morelle of joining the AFC. “That’s why I am glad to join the American Flood Coalition and work alongside my partners in Congress to identify and invest in creative solutions that help protect communities along the shoreline. Together, we can plan for the future and improve the ability of our communities to withstand, recover, and adapt to weather-related events.”
