The legislation establishes a grant program to fund summer reading programs at schools that already serve as summer meal sites, helping to close the achievement gap while reducing food insecurity.

(Rochester, NY) – Today, Congressman Joe Morelle announced that $5.5 million in funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) has been awarded to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) over a five-year period to support students pursuing the cybersecurity field. This grant will fund the CyberCorps Scholarships program, supporting an addition of 24 new scholars.

(Rochester, NY) – Today, Congressman Joe Morelle condemned the soaring and artificial price of prescription diabetes medication in the greater Rochester area. A recent report from the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, commissioned by Rep. Morelle, found that the prices of these life-saving drugs, which thousands of community members rely upon, are significantly higher than the same drugs in other countries – in some cases, up to 21 times more expensive.

(Rochester, NY) – Today, Congressman Joe Morelle announced that $3.75 million in Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) funding has been awarded to the University of Rochester Medical Center for their Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP). The GWEP seeks to improve health outcomes for older adults by developing a healthcare workforce that maximizes patient and family engagement and by integrating principles of geriatrics into health care.
