The legislation, which Rep. Morelle co-sponsors, was passed by the House of Representatives earlier this year but has yet to be taken up by the Senate.

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Rep. Joe Morelle announced more than $119 million in emergency funding for colleges, universities, and students in New York's 25th Congressional District delivered through the American Rescue Plan. The funding will help local institutions cope with the severe financial fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic and continue serving their students safely. At least half of the funding each institution receives will be distributed in the form of emergency cash assistance grants to students who are facing hunger, homelessness, and other hardship.

(Washington, D.C.) – Today Congressman Joe Morelle announced the opening of the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program, which seeks to make broadband internet more accessible and affordable for all communities. The program will provide a $50-per-month subsidy for qualified households to receive internet access through a local provider. Rep. Morelle and his partners in Congress secured $3.2 billion in funding for the program as part of a COVID-19 relief package in December 2020.
